Installation

System Requirements

• macOS 15.0+ (Sequoia or later)
• Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) or Intel processor
• ~10MB disk space

Note

Windows and Linux support is planned for future releases.

Download

Visit the download page to get the latest version for your Mac.

Download the .dmg file for your processor:

• Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4): AgentStash_x.x.x_aarch64.dmg
• Intel: AgentStash_x.x.x_x64.dmg

Not sure which Mac you have?

Click the Apple menu () → About This Mac. Look for “Chip” (Apple Silicon) or “Processor” (Intel).

Install

1. Open the downloaded .dmg file

   Double-click the downloaded file to mount it.

2. Drag AgentStash to Applications

   Drag the AgentStash icon to the Applications folder.

3. Launch AgentStash

   Open AgentStash from your Applications folder or Spotlight.

First Launch on macOS

On first launch, macOS may show a security warning because AgentStash is not notarized. Right-click (or Control-click) on AgentStash and select Open to bypass this. You only need to do this once.

Verify Installation

After launching AgentStash, you should see the main interface with:

• A list of detected AI coding tools on your system
• The sync folder configuration panel
• Your resources (Rules, Skills, Commands) ready to sync

Troubleshooting

”AgentStash is damaged” or blocked by macOS

macOS may block apps downloaded from the internet. Run this command in Terminal to allow it:

xattr -cr /Applications/AgentStash.app

Then try opening AgentStash again.

”AgentStash can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer”

1. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security
2. Scroll down to find the message about AgentStash
3. Click Open Anyway

App crashes on launch

Try these steps:

1. Delete AgentStash data to reset:

   rm -rf ~/.config/agentstash

2. Relaunch AgentStash — you’ll be taken to the onboarding screen
3. Select your cloud sync folder and decide how to proceed:
   • Pull from cloud → Recommended if your cloud folder already has your configs
   • Push to cloud → Only if you’re sure your local AI tool configs are newer than cloud
   • Choose a new folder → Start fresh with a different sync location

Caution

If both local and cloud have configs but differ, pushing will overwrite cloud with local. When in doubt, pull first — you can always push later.

Updating

AgentStash will notify you when updates are available. You can also visit the download page to get the latest version.

Uninstalling

To remove AgentStash:

1. Quit AgentStash if it’s running
2. Drag AgentStash from Applications to Trash
3. (Optional) Remove the sync directory if you no longer need it
